Movies, fantasy & beach: Sitges International film festival

The Sitges International Film Festival is the number one fantasy film festival in the world and represents, at the same time, the cultural expression with the most media impact in Catalonia. With a solid experience, the Sitges Festival is a stimulating universe of encounters, exhibitions, presentations and screenings of fantasy films from all over the world.

Sitges is a town close to Barcelona. It is known in for being the gay capital in Europe, but from today until 12th October in also the fantastic movie's capital.

Some of the movies you will see in the festival:

The Fall (by Tarsem Singh)

REC (by Jaume Balagueró i Paco Plaza)

Halloween (by Rob Zombie)

Black Book (by Paul Verhoeven)

The Illusionist (by Neil Burger starring Edward Norton)

The Host (by Joon-ho Bong)

Stardust (by Matthew Vaughn amb Michelle Pfeiffer)

El laberinto del Fauno (by Guillermo del Toro amb Sergi López)

Staying in Sitges could be a problem in these days (the movie stars have took all the decent hotel beds), but you can land in Hotel Principal and get the train to go there. That way you get the best of both cities.
